An accomplished manager and respected investment banker, Luc Bachand has a wide-ranging background in financing, mergers and acquisitions, investing, risk management and corporate governance. He has spent the bulk of his career with BMO Financial Group, where he served as vice-chair and head of BMO Capital Markets in Quebec for 10 years until his retirement in October 2016. In this role, Mr. Bachand oversaw trading products and investment and corporate banking.
He has lent his considerable expertise as a corporate director to a number of organizations over the years, currently serving on the boards of Morneau Shepell, HEC Montréal and the Institute of Corporate Directors. Known for his strong civic engagement, he is a director of the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation and vice-chair of the board of the Fondation Jeunes en Tête (previously the Mental Illness Foundation). He has also co-chaired multiple fundraising campaigns.
Mr. Bachand holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal and an MBA from Concordia University. He is a fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and a certified director of the Institute of Corporate Directors of Canada.
