Centropolis Unveils a New Immersive Winter Concept
This winter, Centropolis is once again elevating its experiential offering with a large-scale light installation designed to attract, amaze, and keep visitors coming back. Every evening at dusk, the Place Centrale transforms into an immersive environment where light, design, and sound combine to create a distinctive and evolving experience.
With this project, Centropolis reinforces its role as a vibrant gathering place while delivering on its promise to create 1001 memorable moments for its community.
Destination Voie lactée: Turning Space into Experience
The Destination Voie lactée installation transforms the Place Centrale into a cosmic passage. Its circular layout evokes connection, harmony, and inclusivity. Inspired by the universal fascination with the starry sky, this work reimagines how public spaces are used and activated, encouraging visitors to stroll and naturally extend their stay. It helps boost foot traffic and strengthens the site’s overall appeal.
An Innovative and Evolving Installation
Featuring seven luminous towers standing 20 to 25 feet tall, the installation stands out for its scale, bold visual signature, and dynamic nature. Light effects, colour palettes, and projected patterns on the ground change throughout the season, renewing interest and enriching the visitor experience while animating the site all winter long.
A Project by Local Talent
This large-scale digital work was designed and produced by two Quebec-based companies: Onedot, responsible for the creative vision, and CR34TE, responsible for technical deployment.
“We wanted to create an instant wow factor, and Centropolis’ Place Centrale inspired us from the start. Destination Voie lactée plays with perspectives and viewing angles to deliver a vibrant experience that catches the eye from every direction and naturally draws even more visitors. We’re very proud of the result,” says Onedot.
A Winter Landmark for Laval
More than an art installation, Destination Voie lactée is a luminous, unifying landmark. “It’s an experience which strengthens Centropolis’ identity as a four-season destination, supports the local economy by increasing foot traffic, and enriches Laval’s cultural and experiential offering,” explains Karine Rodrigue, Marketing Director at Centropolis. “It reflects Cominar’s commitment to transforming its commercial spaces into modern, memorable places to live and connect.”
